  • 500 g firm fish seer/king fish
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ cup grated coconut paste
  • 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

Instructions:
  1. Heat coconut oil, sauté onions, green chilies, and curry leaves.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste, fry for 1 minute.
  3. Add chili powder, turmeric, and tomatoes. Cook until oil separates.
  4. Mix in coconut paste, tamarind pulp, and 2 cups water. Boil.
  5. Add fish pieces, simmer gently for 10 minutes.
  6. Garnish with curry leaves.

Notes

Serving Suggestions:
  • Best served with Kerala red rice or steamed rice.
  • Goes well with appam or idiyappam.
  • Pairs with stir-fried vegetables.
